Pastor - Rev. Dennis Lynn

Rev. Dennis Lynn has served McCormick First Baptist Church for the past ten years. Dennis has been married to his wife, Helen, for the past thirty-eight years. She has been an important part of his ministry. At present she is deeply involved in the Women's Ministry of the church. She teaches a weekly Ladies Bible Class on Tuesday mornings. This class is open to the community. Dennis and his wife have two grown sons and they are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren.

Dennis' career began as a coach and teacher. For twelve years, he taught social studies and coached in the public schools of South Carolina. After a successful career in education, Dennis felt a call to serve the Lord full time. His first position on staff was Minister of Youth and Activities. After four and one-half years, he felt led to enter into the pastorate. While serving as pastor of his first church, he completed his seminary education at Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, SC.

Dennis believes that it is not how much he knows that matters; but it is what he can convey to his people that counts. Therefore, he attempts to speak in a manner that is clear and relevant to the issues of our day. His teaching background can be seen in his preaching style. Each message is accompanied by an outline that gives the listener something to take home and to ponder during the next week.

Dennis believes strongly that God has brought the people of McCormick First Baptist Church together for a special reason. He believes that there are great days ahead for the church, if it will remain focused upon the Lord and His direction. He believes that the secret to the successful Christian life is understanding the importance of maintaining a balance between the Scripture that reads, "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5) and "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13).

David Becker, Minister of Music

David Becker is the Minister of Music at McCormick First Baptist Church. Dave is originally from New York where he was a vocal music teacher for 32 years. He has led various church choirs for over 40 years. Dave, and his lovely wife, Fran, moved to McCormick during the summer of 2002. They started attending McCormick First Baptist Church soon after that and recently became members.

Dave has assumed the position of Minister of Music where he leads the adult sanctuary choir each week. In addition, the choir presents several cantatas and musical presentations throughout the year directed by Dave. 

Dave also serves as our Church Organist, leading the congregation in song during the Sunday morning service, and as Worship Leader for our evening service.

Aside from music, Dave enjoys golfing with Fran, hunting, fishing and working on his 1976 Triumph TR-6.

Minister of Community Outreach

Our church voted recently to hire a Minister of Community Outreach.
The Personnel Committe presently is seeking the right person for this position.
