Ministry Team
Pastor - Rev. Gary E. DeBerry
Rev, DeBerry earned a Master of Divinity degree from
the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with
a major in Pastoral Ministry and a Bachelor of
Science degree from Jacksonville State
University with a major in Economics. Under the auspices of the Southern Baptist
International Mission Board, Gary
served 12 years in the Middle East working as
Hospital Administrator for two hospitals; Director
of Baptist Bookstores in Jordan; Bible College
Professor; pastor of a church serving 14 nationalities, and led as Mission
Coordinator for Cyprus during the Gulf war.
Upon returning to the United States,
Gary served as Senior Pastor of churches in Alabama and Florida and most recently as interim pastor for a church in Tennessee.
Reverend DeBerry grew up in Centre, Alabama. He has been married to his
wife, SuEllen, for 38 years. She is a graduate of Auburn University trained as a Medical Technologist and
worked for the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.
David
Becker, Minister of Music
David Becker is the Minister of Music at McCormick First
Baptist Church. Dave is originally from New York where he was a vocal
music teacher for 32 years. He has led various church choirs for over 40
years. Dave, and his lovely wife, Fran, moved to McCormick during the
summer of 2002. They started attending McCormick First Baptist Church soon
after that and recently became members.
Dave has assumed the position of Minister of Music where he
leads the adult sanctuary choir each week. In addition, the choir presents
several cantatas and musical presentations throughout the year directed by
Dave.
Dave also serves as our Church Organist, leading the
congregation in song during the Sunday morning service, and as Worship
Leader for our evening service.
Aside from music, Dave enjoys golfing with Fran, hunting,
fishing and working on his 1976 Triumph TR-6.
Dwayne Steedly, Minister of Community Outreach
Dwayne Steedley is the Minister of Community Outreach at McCormick First Baptist Church. Dwayne is originally from the Edgefield/North Augusta area. He graduated in December 2008 from North Greenville University with a degree in Christian Studies, and moved to McCormick immediately after graduation.
Dwayne's ministry focuses on Youth, Children, and Young Families. His job includes helping with Children’s Choir, and the Good News Club. He also leads the Youth meeting on Sunday Night and is responsible for VBS, the block parties, and Camps.
