Our Adult Ministries
Ministry of Prayer
We believe that prayer is the
beginning of every good work for the Kingdom of our God. We encourage all
of our ministries to place a strong emphasis upon prayer. We believe, if
we begin with prayer we are more likely to achieve our potential in the
Lord.
Ministry of Worship
Our primary worship times are
at 11:00 AM and 7:00
PM on Sundays. During the winter months our evening
service begins at 6:00 PM. Our worship consists of praise,
prayer, and proclamation. Our pastor seeks to present the Word in a manner
that will let you take it with you and to apply it is your life. Our worship is greatly enhanced
by a wonderful sanctuary choir.
Ministry of Discipleship
Sunday school is at the center of our discipleship. We encourage everyone to join a Sunday school class,
both for the Biblical truths that will be learned and for the fellowship
that can be built with class members. During the course of the year,
we offer an additional variety of courses to assist our people in their
growth with the Lord. Our weekly Ladies Bible Study
has become an important part of our discipleship effort. Our ladies meet
each Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM for study.
Ministry of Evangelism /
Missions
We support over 5000 missionaries at home and abroad through the Cooperative Program, the
mission arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. Besides the normal weekly
giving through the Cooperative Program, during the course of the year we
hold three special mission offerings, "Lottie Moon Christmas Offering",
"Annie Armstrong Easter Offering", and the "Janie Chapman Offering for
State Missions". The mission organization, Women on Mission, lead the way
in promoting our mission giving.
Locally, we encourage our
people to share their faith anytime opportunity presents itself and we
seek to present events at the church that would involve the community. One
of our immediate goals is to become bolder in our witness to our
community.
Ministry to Children and
Youth
We have an active Children's Choir that meets each Wednesday from 3:00
PM until 5:00
pM. During the summer we
provide Fabulous Fridays, a weekly opportunity for Bible Study, fellowship
and fun. Our youth meet each Sunday
evening and other times when special activities are planned. Each summer
they attend youth camp for one week.
Plus Group Ministry
This group is for individuals
55 and over. They meet monthly for dinner and special programs. Some
months the group will go on a short trip. Once each quarter they meet at a
gathering of seniors from across our entire association.
Ladies Ministry
Our Ladies Ministries are a
vital part of our church ministry. The Ladies Ministries is made of two
parts. The Women on Missions takes the lead in promoting missions in our
church. They encourage mission study through the meetings of their circles
each month. They also take the lead in the promotion of our three major
mission offerings during the year. Some of our ladies have participated in overseas mission trips, such as the Mission to South Asia.
The other part of our Ladies Ministries concentrates on ministry to our ladies here at home. There is a
Tuesday morning Bible Study that meets each Tuesday morning at 9:30
AM.
This is not only a time of study. It is also a time of fellowship and
prayer. In addition to the Tuesday study, our ladies also sponsor special
dinners during the year. These dinners always have exceptional
inspirational speakers.
Men's Ministry
Our Men's Ministry continues to
grow. It is designed to help men minister to one another. There are a
variety of activities held throughout the year. Events such as Wild Game
Nights or Golf outings are planned during the year. We are constantly
searching for ways to get our men involved in study, fellowship and
ministry. There is a growing sense of excitement about the future of the
Men's Ministry.
