Men's Ministry
Joshua’s Men
Come join other men
of McCormick First Baptist Church as they read, study, and discuss books
pertaining to our various Christian walks. We meet on the third Thursday of
the month between September and May for a fellowship dinner and then discuss
the salient points of the books in a relaxed setting. We are in our third year
and are growing each year. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to share a
evening with fellow Christian Men and grow in your walk with Christ.
Meeting the Acts 1:8 Challenge
The Acts 1:8 Challenge is an opportunity for churches to participate in a comprehensive mission strategy. See how we are meeting the Acts 1:8 Challenge at MFBC.
Harris Springs Day
The annual MFBC Men’s
Day at Harris Springs is an exciting and growing event. Last year our men and
their guests numbered over 70 and we were able to see God work in our midst.
The day begins with opportunities to try your skills or learnt how to shoot at
a 5 stand range or maybe the sporting clay range. There is also a group that
sets up a pistol range and practices their skills or tries pistol shooting for
the first time. Following a great day of great outdoor fellowship, we adjourn
to Carl’s hors d’oeuvres (elk, antelope, or caribou) and a great tasting wild
game dinner. Following dinner a guest speaker shares personal experiences and
results of active men’s programs with us. This event has been our biggest
men’s outreach yet. Last year, we were extremely blessed when one of our
guests accepted Christ following the speakers presentation. It was a great day
in the Lord.
Salt & Light Conference
Generally held January of each year and is well attended by
our men.
Quarterly Men’s Breakfast
Chef Del and his two brothers
Larry provide mouth watering eggs or pancakes along with sausage, orange juice,
coffee and occasionally grits. It’s a great way to start your Saturday
morning. Following our breakfast, a guest speaker shares a testimony or
explains a successful ministry they are involved in. Some speakers have even
helped us understand better what it means to be a Christian man and the
leadership roles we are expected to play. We average between 25 and 30 men
each session and there is room for more. Come and join us. Bring a friend.
It is a non threatening way to witness to your friends and neighbors. Check
the calendar for the next scheduled breakfast and sign up on the list placed on
the bulletin board or email the church office.
Golf Outing
Each year we have a
fun golfing event. No pressure, just a relaxing day on the links. Invite your
neighbor or friend and come on out. Check the calendar and join us for a
leisure game of golf, a small lunch and some great fellowship. There is always
a prize for the low round but the method of calculating the low round changes
from year to year.
Special Projects
From time to time we
put together men in various size groups to support our communities or other
churches. From roofing a house to feeding youth at a youth rally, men of our
church are reaching out to the community sharing Christian fellowship to
believers and non-believers alike. Be a part of this sharing and you are a
part of the Acts 1:8 mission challenge. Find your place to make a difference.
Monthly Deacon Teams
Click here to view the current monthly Deacon team assignments. For the most part, this is offering collection, counting and lockup following the morning service, but it is also an on-call list in case special needs arise. Each Deacon should make arrangements to have his responsibility covered, should it be necessary to miss a Sunday.
